The Palmerston Forts Society (PFS) aims to educate the public about Fort Nelson and Victorian fortifications, supporting their improvement for public benefit. To further this goal, PFS offers financial grants of up to £1,000 for projects focused on preserving and recording Victorian forts.
Eligible recipients include societies and organizations dedicated to these forts. Projects must deliver tangible results—like restoration, education, or publication—with a preference for sustainable outcomes. Research-focused projects are covered under a separate scheme for PFS members.
Grant applications will be evaluated based on merit, with funding granted on a one-off basis at the PFS’s discretion, without the obligation to provide reasons for decisions. A sub-committee will select projects, validated by a committee quorum. There’s no limit on applications from any group, but only one grant per group will be approved each year.
