The NAA are organising a visit to this site. We have just heard about it but PFS members and guests are welcome.
The NAA tell us:
"The Artillery Volunteers formed in 1859. The NAA was formed in 1863 and the first NAA competitions were held in 1865 held at the Royal Artillery School of Gunnery, Shoeburyness (itself created in 1859). By that time, there were already 32,000 enrolled Artillery Volunteers across England, Scotland and Wales.” See the attached pdf for more details:

2024 marks the 40th year since the Palmerston Forts Society was formed. To commemorate this occasion a number of special events will be announced. Watch this space......
